Jay is an Associate at HFL with a particular focus on relationship property law. He advises clients on all aspects of relationship property, including contracting out (prenuptial) agreements and separations, providing practical, clear advice tailored to each client’s circumstances.
As an experienced court advocate, Jay also acts for clients in estate disputes, commercial disputes, and debt recovery. He is known for his thoughtful, strategic approach and his ability to guide clients through complex and often sensitive legal issues with confidence.
Jay holds a BA in Political Studies and Philosophy, a PGDip in International Relations and Security Studies, and a Master of Laws with First Class Honours. His strong academic background complements his practical litigation experience and analytical approach to problem-solving.
Outside the office, Jay is an active member of the Nelson creative community. He is a musician and serves as Treasurer of the Nelson Fringe Festival, reflecting his commitment to supporting the arts and the local community.
